FAQs
Yes! At UMGC, we believe our students deserve credit for what they already know, and our generous transfer credit awards put that belief into action. As the #1 public university for transfer students, we understand their needs and know how to get them the most credit for past learning. We accept up to 45 transfer credits toward an associate degree and up to 70 community college credits and up to 90 total transfer credits toward a bachelor's degree. Graduate students can transfer up to 12 credits toward a master's degree or up to 6 credits toward a graduate certificate.
At UMGC, we've designed our online classes to fit into your life. Students typically don't have specific times they need to log in, so they can complete their coursework whenever works best for them. Learn more about how online learning works at UMGC.
At UMGC, our academic calendar includes multiple sessions each semester, all year round. Undergraduate sessions are 8 weeks, and graduate sessions are 11 to 12 weeks, depending on the program. Doctoral program sessions are 11 weeks.
UMGC is committed to keeping our tuition and fees as affordable as possible. Tuition is per credit and varies by program and military affiliation. Undergraduate programs and some graduate programs also have different tuition rates for in-state and out-of-state students. Yes. UMGC is institutionally accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. In addition, several of our programs also carry specialized, industry-specific accreditations indicating those programs meet the requirements set by those professional associations.
