Randy Hansen
Acting Vice President and Dean, School of Arts and Sciences
Rand Hansen, EdD, serves as acting dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at University of Maryland Global Campus. In this role, he oversees the planning and execution of all academic and administrative matters pertinent to the successful operation of the School of Arts and Science.
Hansen is an educator with 25 years of teaching and leadership experience. He began his career as a teacher of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), has served as district technology coordinator, and worked with Discovery Education. Before joining UMGC, Hansen held administrative and faculty appointments at National Louis University and the Johns Hopkins University.
In addition, Hansen serves as president of the Board of Directors for the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), an international education nonprofit with more than 25,000 members worldwide.
In 2015, he was selected by the Center for Digital Education as one of the Top 30 Technologists, Transformers, and Trailblazers. In 2016, he earned the ISTE Making IT Happen award in recognition of his significant contributions and leadership in the field of educational technology.
Hansen received a master's degree in Instructional Systems Design from University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and a doctorate in Educational Technology from Pepperdine University.
