How to Get Started
Need help starting the PMP certification prep course? Follow the steps below to register for the online PMP certification preparation course and take the PMP exam.
Before you register for the UMGC course, determine if you meet PMP certification requirements.
If you have a four-year degree from a college or university, you must:
- Have 36 months of experience leading projects within the past eight years, and
- Have 35 hours of project management education/training or a CAPM certification to be eligible to take the PMP certification exam.
Alternatively, you could be eligible for the PMP certification exam if
- You’ve earned a high school or secondary school diploma
- You have 60 months of experience leading projects within the past eight years
- You have 35 hours of project management experience/training or CAPM certification
You can apply for CAPM certification if you don’t currently meet the PMP certification eligibility requirements.

If you've determined that you meet PMP certification requirements/eligibility, follow the steps below to register for the online PMP certification preparation course and take the PMP exam.
- Enroll in UMGC's PMP preparation course.
- Apply for the PMP exam.
- Prepare for the certification exam with expert guidance from UMGC.
- Take the exam and leverage your certification. The exam fee is $405 for PMI members and $575 for non-PMI members.
The full payment of $1,595 is due upon registration. You are NOT officially registered for the course until full payment has been received.
