Build Skills and Hands-On Experience Required for a Career in Cyber Security
The University of Maryland Global Campus Cybersecurity Competition Team is a powerful force, dominating cybersecurity games around the world. Our Cybersecurity Competition Team is composed of students, alumni, and faculty representing the cybersecurity and IT programs at UMGC. Through the Cybersecurity Competition team, students gain experience and build skills, learning collaboratively with fellow cybersecurity students and faculty, and networking with employers. To prepare for competitions, students detect and combat cyber attacks in UMGC’s Virtual Security Lab and work through case studies in an online classroom. The team competes in digital forensics, penetration testing, and computer network defense.
Grow Your Network and Professional Development with Student Organizations
UMGC’s student organizations aim to provide members with professional growth, leadership development, and a sense of community. They include academic-focused groups where students can engage with career-related topics, opportunities, and interest-based groups that provide students with ways to support and connect with each other through a shared purpose. Students can find a majority of the student organizations’ virtual communities along with some informal groups within CareerQuest Groups (UMGC’s platform for career resources) and on Facebook Groups.
