Biography
Dr. Nicole DeRamus (Captain, U.S. Navy, Retired) serves as UMGC’s associate vice president and deputy director of Stateside Military Operations, serving military-affiliated students across the country, with 50-plus locations across across the United States. She provides leadership, strategic oversight, and direction to university-wide student military-affiliated and veteran services. She ensures military-affiliated students receive the advocacy, resources, and support they need as they work toward their educational goals and successfully transition into the civilian workplace. In addition, she oversees operational support for military-connected students, including processing of VA certification for student veterans, processing tuition assistance and military degree plans for active-duty military students, and management of military-affiliated scholarships and non-traditional programs.
DeRamus is a 27-year Navy veteran who joined UMGC in August 2020. She holds a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Auburn University, a master’s degree in operations research from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a PhD in education from Capella University.
