Unveiled: Works from the UMUC Art Collections, the latest exhibition displayed at University of Maryland University College (UMUC), features several of the university's recent acquisitions.
"This exhibition, showcased in the university's newly renovated galleries, mirrors UMUC's diversity, featuring works in a variety of media and styles by artists from Maryland and abroad," said UMUC President Javier Miyares. "These exciting additions to UMUC's collections—including those devoted to Maryland artists and the Art of China—continue a long tradition at the university."
Unveiled showcases the remarkable additions that have propelled the art at UMUC into the national conversation. The exhibition will run from Sunday, February 9, to Sunday, March 30, 2014, in the Arts Program Gallery on the lower level of the UMUC Inn and Conference Center. The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
The displayed works were crafted and created by prominent artists, including March Avery, Ralph Baney, A. Aubrey Bodine, Al Burts, Elizabeth Catlett, Ed Clark, Kevin Cole, Patrick Craig, Richard L. Dana, Tim Davis, Richard Dempsey, Patricia Tobacco Forrester, Jane Frank, Peter Gordon, Grace Hartigan, Palmer Hayden, Kristin Helberg, Ellen Hill, Jacob Lawrence, Keith M. Martin, Reini Maters, Tom Miller, John Blair Mitchell, Yoshiko Oishi-Weick, Joyce J. Scott, David Smedley, Carroll Sockwell, Nelson Stevens, Alma W. Thomas, Andy Warhol, and Mindy Weisel.
New addition to UMUC's Art of China Collection will also be introduced.
