University's new agreement with Benesyst, a TASC Company will offer BeneScholar™ clients' employees, their spouses and dependents access to higher education

Adelphi, Md. (Sept. 4, 2014) — University of Maryland University College (UMUC) announced today that it has signed an agreement with Benesyst, a TASC company delivering benefit management services and technologies to clients across a broad range of industries, to offer its BeneScholar™ clients' employees, their spouses and dependents the opportunity to complete degrees or pursue higher education at UMUC. Through the two-year agreement, employees, their spouses and dependents are eligible for a 25 percent discount on out-of-state tuition rates for most programs.

"Providing access to affordable, high-quality education is important to UMUC, and we look forward to working alongside TASC and their BeneScholar™ clients to provide their employees the opportunity to reach their educational and professional goals," said UMUC Provost Marie Cini. "UMUC is proud to work with TASC through a partnership that will give employees, their spouses and dependents the opportunity to complete a degree or pursue higher education."

Under the agreement, BeneScholar™ clients' employees, their spouses and dependents can take individual courses or enroll in any of UMUC's 95 undergraduate and graduate degree or certificate programs, most of which are available fully online. Students enrolling in UMUC's undergraduate school may transfer credits from other universities and/or be awarded credit for prior learning if eligible under UMUC's standard policies and procedures.

"We are very happy to be working with UMUC. They are one of the largest public providers of online undergraduate and graduate programs and the tuition discount provides tremendous value to our BeneScholar™ clients," says Duane Chapman, TASC's Executive Vice President of National Accounts. "This alliance, in conjunction with our BeneScholar™ services, allows employers to improve the knowledge and skills of their workforce, increase retention and help recruitment."
