In a continuing initiative to connect University of Maryland University College (UMUC) students, alumni and the greater community with top employers, UMUC's Career Services team recently held a recruiter session featuring a trifecta of top-name employers: The Walt Disney Company, ICF International and State Farm.
More than 150 attendees, participating online, or on-site at the University's Academic Center at Largo, Maryland, learned about career opportunities within each organization―everything from internships to full-time positions―that spanned industries across the companies, including cyber security, communications and business.
Leslie Turner, a recruiter with ICF International, said the company finds the UMUC sessions to be a productive recruiting tool. “We were extremely impressed with the turnout from the past two events with UMUC,” she said. “We love the quality of attendees and we are working to extend offers as a result.”
Mandy Seligman, campus recruiter for The Walt Disney Company, echoed Turner’s sentiments. “The quality of my conversations with the attendees was great. I am very excited to receive resumes of the attendees after the event,” Seligman said.
The session kicked off with a panel discussion providing recruiters a forum to share insights about the culture of their organizations and discuss the skills they look for in potential job candidates. In addition, recruiters discussed how to navigate the application process for available job openings.
