Adelphi, Md. (Aug. 23, 2023)—University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) will host its third annual Financial Wellness Day on Wednesday, Sept. 13. The virtual event is free of charge and open to all. Participants can attend workshops and seek one-on-one financial planning advice and guidance from experienced professional Certified Financial Planners (CFPs).
Financial Wellness Day is a collaborative effort organized by UMGC’s Department of Accounting and Finance, the Financial Planning Association (FPA) of the National Capital Area and vFairs, an all-in-one event management platform.
Under the leadership of CFPs and with the assistance of finance faculty and students at UMGC, attendees can schedule individual appointments to receive financial advice at several virtual booths. CFPs are also available to discuss tax issues, insurance, estate planning, and other concerns related to financial security.
In addition to one-on-one advice, the event features three free classroom-style workshop presentations on financial planning topics including what you should know about financial planning, investing basics and how to be a smart investor, and planning a robust retirement.
“I enjoy being able to give each client a personalized experience. In fact, my five-year goal is to become a financial adviser at a small to medium-sized financial advising firm,” said UMGC student Rachel Woodward, who served as a student volunteer at the 2021 Financial Wellness Day.
Building on the success of the 2022 event, which saw more than 1,400 personal financial planning guides downloaded from the Financial Wellness Day Resource Center, this year's event promises an even greater impact.
