Adelphi, Md. (Sept. 6, 2023)—University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) and College of DuPage (COD), the largest public community college in the state of Illinois, have announced a partnership that makes it easier for the Illinois community college’s students to pursue a four-year degree online. The alliance offers approximately 22,000 students from COD the opportunity to enroll in one of UMGC’s more than 135 online academic programs at a more affordable rate.

“We are proud to join with College of DuPage to increase access to quality online bachelor’s programs and accelerate the pathway to a four-year degree,” said Blakely Pomietto, senior vice president and chief academic officer at UMGC. “It is critical to provide a seamless process for COD’s students to ultimately achieve their educational goals as efficiently and affordably as possible.”

Through the transfer partnership, COD students are eligible for discounted tuition, and the UMGC application fee for new applicants is waived. The partnership allows students to transfer a minimum of 60 credits when they complete an associate degree and gives them guaranteed admission to a UMGC bachelor’s degree program in a complementary field of study. Employees, spouses and dependents of COD can also take advantage of these benefits.

“University of Maryland Global Campus provides COD students flexible and affordable baccalaureate degree opportunities in some of today’s fastest-growing fields,” said College of DuPage President Brian Caputo. “This innovative partnership demonstrates a commitment to the future success of our students.”

UMGC has an enrollment of some 89,000 students, more than half of whom are active-duty military personnel and their families serving on military bases around the world. It offers award-winning online, in-person and hybrid programs in biotechnology, cybersecurity, data analytics, information technology and other career fields that are in high demand in today’s increasingly technical, global workplace. UMGC also offers cost savings through its use of digital resources that have replaced publisher textbooks in most courses.
