UMGC to Host Military Veteran Networking Fair in Adelphi on May 2

Adelphi, Md. (April 18, 2023)—University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) will host Mil/Vet Net, a networking and support services fair geared toward the region's servicemembers, veterans and military-connected staff, students and alumni from more than 40 colleges and universities in Maryland, including all twelve University System of Maryland institutions, all 16 Maryland community colleges, and all Maryland Independent College and University Association schools. There is no cost to attend this event.

Mil/Vet Net will be held on Tuesday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Chesapeake Room at the College Park Marriott and Conference Center, 3501 University Blvd, East, Adelphi, Md.

Attendees will be introduced to national, regional and local resources that will assist them in their education, their lives, and their transition from the military. Come meet and learn about various veteran service organizations, entrepreneur resources, and employers. Lunch will be served and Laura Hatcher Photography will provide free professional headshots (sign-up required).

The featured speaker will be Lt. Col. Xavier Bruce, DBA (U.S. Air Force, Ret.). Known as “Dr. X,” Bruce served for 24 years, including multiple deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He is a Certified Professional Coach, Certified Wellness Coach, and Certified Resilience-Building Leadership Professional Trainer. Dr. X created a self-leadership development program to help veterans overcoming the stress and anxiety associated with life transitions. His passion is helping veterans inspire, “inpower,” and uplift themselves so that they become equipped to build resilience in their families, organizations, and communities. Dr. X has a Bachelor of Science from the U.S. Air Force Academy, a Master of Business Administration from Wayland Baptist University, and a Doctorate of Business Administration from Walden University.
