Adelphi, Md. (May 28, 2024)— University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) and OpenClassrooms, a learning platform based in France with more than 600 online courses, have announced an agreement with OpenClassrooms. OpenClassrooms students who are in its apprenticeship program and successfully complete courses in certain programs can transfer up to 55 credits to UMGC.
The eligible OpenClassrooms programs include Application Developer, Data Analyst, Help Desk Technician and Digital Marketer. Students who transfer credits to UMGC will have their application fee waived and receive a discount on tuition.
“We are pleased to join with OpenClassrooms and offer its students an additional pathway to achieve their educational goals,” said Blakely Pomietto, UMGC’s senior vice president and chief academic officer. “For students in apprenticeships who are developing these highly marketable skills, this new transfer program will enable them to earn a degree in a more efficient and cost-effective way and put them in even better position to succeed in the workforce.”
UMGC offers more than 135 degree and certificate programs in a wide variety of fields, including cybersecurity, data analytics, software development, information technology and business. Additionally, UMGC saves students money by using digital resources, which have replaced costly publisher textbooks in most courses.
OpenClassrooms courses cover a wide range of subjects, from coding and software engineering to management and soft skills. Additionally, OpenClassrooms offers more than 50 full training programs that provide career-focused skills in web development, application development, cybersecurity analysis, instructional design and other areas.
