Adelphi, Md. (Oct. 17, 2024)—University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) has entered into an agreement with the Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce, located in the Southwest Valley metro area of Phoenix, Arizona, to offer a discounted tuition rate to chamber members, their employees and families. This collaboration provides individuals associated with the chamber a pathway to further their education by pursuing college courses or specialized training at reduced costs.
UMGC is offering up to a 25 percent discount on the university’s out-of-state tuition, along with waiving the application fee for all admitted applicants who become program participants.
“We are proud to join with the Southwest Valley Chamber and expand access to post-secondary education for its employees and their families as well as to the employees and families of its member organizations,” said Blakely Pomietto, senior vice president and chief academic officer at UMGC. “Through this agreement—and our broad portfolio of 135 degree and certificate programs—we have the potential to reach thousands of people who have a wide variety of educational goals and career and professional aspirations.”
Marianna Smith, outreach partner specialist at UMGC, connected with the Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce (SVCC) through the university’s relationship with Maricopa Community College. The agreement encompasses all 700+ businesses in the chamber.
