Gain Real-World Experience in Your Environmental Management Courses 

Throughout the curriculum, your instructors will assign in-depth, hands-on coursework designed to help you gain the skills to perform ecological and human risk assessments; communicate scientific, economic, ethical, and legal considerations for audits and consultations; work effectively in teams; and engage ethically with a wide variety of stakeholders on issues related to the environment. 

In past courses, students have chosen to complete the following assignments: 

  • Determine the social, economic, and logistical considerations in siting a reuse, refurbishing, and recycling center in the Mid-Atlantic region for silicon-based solar panels. 
  • Analyze toxic site information near a particular city, share the information with your group, and evaluate the relative risks of the sites. 
  • Provide an audit report with root causes and corrective actions analysis. 
  • Develop talking points and read-aheads for meetings with relevant, specific stakeholders.
