Prince George's County Public Schools, Prince George's Community College, and University of Maryland Global Campus are offering an affordable, definitive pathway to a bachelor’s degree for students in Prince George’s County, beginning with dual enrollment in high school.
Through the county's specialized 3D Scholars Program, Prince George's County public high school students can earn a bachelor's degree at University of Maryland Global Campus for a total cost of less than $10,000.
Student Eligibility
Applicants to the 3D Scholars Program must
- Be enrolled in the 10th grade at a Prince George's County public high school
- Hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
- Meet the program's score requirements for at least one college preparatory exam (Accuplacer, SAT, or ACT)
- Complete the application form, a 500 word essay, and provide two teacher recommendations to their counselor by the application deadline.
The program accepts 25 students per year.
Program Description
Students who are accepted into the program begin taking courses at PGCC while still in high school, earning credits toward an associate's degree. Upon graduation from high school, students immediately transition to PGCC to complete the associate's degree. Finally, they are awarded a scholarship to UMGC to earn their bachelor's degree for a total cost of less than $10,000.
At UMGC, they can select one of three bachelor's degrees:
Students will work with an advisor when enrolled at each institution to provide individual guidance through the program to ensure a seamless transition from high school to PGCC, and from PGCC to UMGC.
