Earn Credit for CompTIA Certifications

Get a head start on a computer- or technology-related bachelor’s degree at University of Maryland Global Campus by earning credit for one or more of your CompTIA certifications. These certifications are highly coveted in the industry and demonstrate your mastery of unique topic areas within the fields of IT and cybersecurity, including penetration testing, incident detection, technical support, cloud computing, Linux competency, and network security. UMGC will award course credit for certifications you’ve earned, allowing you to save time and money while fulfilling course requirements that can be applied to our bachelor’s degrees in applied technology and computer science; our undergraduate certificates in computer networking and cloud computing and networking; and more.

Submit a Request for Credit

If you have one or more of these certifications, you must submit official documentation from the certifying organization (such as a certificate, verification code, or letter) which includes your name, the title of the certification, and the date(s) of the certification. Send this documentation to studentrecords@umgc.edu after you apply to UMGC.

Upon receipt, UMGC will assess whether the certification can be applied to your program (based on all other sources of credit you earn) and, if so, how it will be applied (major coursework, elective, or other). If UMGC does not receive the appropriate documentation, we will not be able to evaluate credit and its applicability to your degree or certificate program.
