Option 1: Earn an MS in Data Analytics
If you are an eligible ManTech employee, you can earn a Master of Science in data analytics in just three years —at no cost to you.

One of the many benefits of participation in this program is the "no cost to the student" philosophy. All tuition costs will be billed to ManTech directly and payments will be made directly from ManTech to UMGC. This requires the student to complete the degree program in three calendar years, at the pace described in the table above. To be eligible for this program, you must be
- A full-time ManTech employee
- Eligible for the ManTech Tuition Assistance program
- Pursuing a Master of Science degree in Data Analytics at UMGC
To be admitted to the program, you must meet the standard criteria for graduate admission at UMGC and provide one of the following:
- An official transcript reflecting completion of coursework at the 200-level or higher in statistics and computer programming from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum grade of B (credit from other accredited institutions may be considered on a case-by-case basis)
- Proof of industry certification, such as IBM certification in Cognos, Risk Analytics, SPSS, SAS certification, Microsoft certification, Certified Analytics Professional, Certified Business Intelligence Professional, or Certified Health Data Analyst

Direct Billing for MS in Data Analytics Students: If you enroll, you must complete the Authorization for Invoicing form, located here. Until it is submitted, you will be responsible for any invoices issued.
Option 2: Receive a Tuition Discount of Up to 25%
If you are not interested in the MS in Data Analytics pathway, you can apply to UMGC and receive an up to 25 percent discount on out-of-state tuition for most programs. To take this pathway, you must complete the steps to get started.
Depending on the program of study you select, you can choose to take courses that align with DoD 8570 certification exams.
Tuition Discount Details
This discount will be applied to out-of-state tuition for eligible students in most programs.* This discount cannot be combined with certain scholarships or discount programs, including the Maryland Completion Scholarship, the Military New Graduate Student Savings Program, the Alumni Succeed Again Scholarship, and the discount for out-of-state community college alliances. Discounted tuition rates may not fall below the standard in-state rate or any special tuition rate offered to eligible active-duty military servicemembers, their spouses, or dependents.
DoD 8570 Certification Courses
Department of Defense Directive 8570 (DoD 8570) requires all DoD employees who conduct information assurance functions to carry an approved certification specific to their job classification. UMGC's undergraduate courses in the computer networks and cybersecurity program are designed to help prepare students for specific DoD 8570 certification exams.

As you’re pursuing these certifications, you may be able to get a discount by purchasing an exam voucher using your UMGC e-mail address.
If you already hold the above DoD 8570 or other IT certifications, you may be able to satisfy certain program prerequisites and earn credit toward a UMGC degree.
Get Started & Register
Apply for admission to UMGC: Complete the online application for admission. It typically takes about 10 minutes. Be sure to select your employer or organization on the application form.
Complete a tuition benefits verification form: Complete an employment/membership verification form for each term that you plan to enroll in courses. Be sure to fill out the proper form. UMGC has a separate verification form for employees/members and spouses/dependents.
Earn credit for your education and eligible experience: Submit your official transcripts from any previous institutions of higher education.
Register for classes: Once you're admitted to UMGC, you will receive a student ID (EmplID) so you can register for courses online. Check the schedule of classes to view courses, and then register for classes online using the MyUMGC Student Portal.
