At 24, Joey Price ’11 created Jumpstart:HR, LLC, a consulting and outsourcing firm that helps small-business owners and startup founders build better, more stable businesses. Five years later, Price’s innovation and ambition have landed him a spot on the inaugural Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) '30 Under 30' list.

SHRM is the world’s largest HR professional society, representing more than 285,000 members across the world. The organization selected its 30 Under 30 winners from more than 200 nominees—all young professionals who have made distinctive and noteworthy contributions to the profession; SHRM made the announcement Nov. 23, 2016.

Price considers the SHRM endorsement a strong certification of trust and accountability. “To be recognized by SHRM as one of our industry’s best and brightest young minds is truly an honor,” he said. “It’s quite a seal of approval to live up to and I embrace the challenge!”

Through its out-of-the-box consulting strategies, Price’s firm helps its client organizations make smart decisions when investing in one of their greatest assets—their people. “Businesses that fail to invest in HR strategy miss out on its truly transformative impact on employee motivation and bottom line ROI,” he advises. “When a business strategy is supported by HR strategy, research shows that this is the sweet spot for corporate innovation and growth,” he said.

When he’s not changing the world of HR, Price is an adjunct professor and podcaster. On his program, “Business, Life and Coffee,” Price discusses personal finance, business, psychology and professional development. Recent notable guests include Tough Mudder CEO Will Dean, Chief Social Media Strategist Curtis Midkiff, and Spokesperson-Trend expert for Spotify and former CNN Reporter-Producer Shanon Cook.
