Alum Uses Service Dogs to Change Veterans’ Lives Overseas

Veteran and UMGC alum Richard Rice launched the nonprofit K9’s for Veterans Abroad in 2018. The organization provides trained service dogs at no charge to former or current military members in Europe.

UMGC is continuing its 75-year history of meeting students where they are, this time stepping forward to support servicemembers near the war in Ukraine, who are on the ground in Poland and Romania. There are plans to have educators on site in the spring.

Drazek Teaching Excellence Award. The prize is the highest faculty honor that the university bestows.
