EXPLORE MORE OF UMGC

University of Maryland Global Campus is committed to serving the higher education needs of military servicemembers. Starting fall 2024, we are offering an innovative way to help you get credit for your unique learning, training, and experience and create a faster path to a degree. UMGC will offer up to 12 total credits in specific undergraduate business, management, and leadership programs if you have achieved rank E5 or above in your military service.

If you meet the following criteria, you may be eligible for this opportunity:

  • You are a servicemember or veteran (with less than 10 years since separating from the military).
  • You are a new undergraduate student at UMGC starting in fall 2024 or later.
  • You have a military rank of E5 or above.

Earn a Career-Focused Bachelor's Degree

Currently, UMGC offers credit for undergraduate courses that articulate to major requirements in the business administration and management studies bachelor's degree programs. These career-relevant programs can help you increase your marketability in high-demand fields while you build career skills and a foundation of knowledge in multiple subject areas, including marketing, accounting, and finance.

What Credits are Available for Military Rank?

Currently, UMGC is offering a selection of undergraduate business courses for military rank, as follows:

Military rank E5 — Earn up to 3 credits at UMGC:

  • (3 Credits, BMGT 160)

Military rank E6 — Earn up to 6 credits at UMGC:

  • (3 Credits, BMGT 160)
  • (3 Credits, BMGT 365)

Military rank E8 — Earn up to 12 credits at UMGC:

  • (3 Credits, BMGT 160)
  • (3 Credits, BMGT 365)
  • (3 Credits, BMGT 484)
  • (3 Credits, HRMN 300)

How to Get Started

Contact your advisor or military education coordinator to discuss if this transfer credit opportunity is right for you. Once, you apply to UMGC, you'll have the opportunity to submit your transcripts and have your prior experience and education evaluated for review.
