FAQs
The U.S. Department of Education requires that Title IV funds be applied to specific allowable charges. Allowable charges include: tuition and mandatory fees by the University. Title IV aid will be used to pay your current year allowable charges and up to $200 of prior year allowable charges. Title IV aid cannot be used to pay non-allowable charges.
If your total Title IV aid exceeds the total of your qualifying current and prior year charges, the University must refund that excess to you.
A student may use an authorization form to cover courses outside of your program. If you do not grant authorization, you may receive a refund and will be sent a bill for any charges that could not be paid with your Title IV aid. Receiving a refund does not indicate that there are no pending charges on your account. Outstanding charges may result in penalties.
Complete the Program Applicability Authorization Form to allow Title IV funds to cover courses outside your program.
No. An authorization remains in effect while you are a student at UMGC. It may be rescinded by sending a written request to the Office of Student Accounts. Please contact collections@umgc.edu for additional information.
