Biography

Ayobami Oyewusi (Ayo) is a student currently pursuing an Undergraduate Accounting degree at UMGC. Originally from Nigeria, Ayobami moved to the United States in 2015, bringing with her fluency in English and proficiency in Yoruba.

With an Associate degree in Engineering, Ayobami's passion for education led her to graduate high school at age 15 and embark on her college journey the same year. Ayobami was selected as a member of the 2023 All Maryland Academic Team in recognition of scholarly achievements of students in community colleges. She has also been recognized by NASA, Coca-Cola scholars foundation, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and has received numerous certificates of achievement and academic awards as a TRIO member and distinguished STEM Scholar.

Looking towards the future, Ayobami plans to pursue a Master's degree in Accounting, aiming to further specialize in the field and enhance her career prospects. With a keen interest in advancing in the professional world, Ayobami envisions leveraging her educational background and practical experience to secure a rewarding position in Accounting or related fields. She aspires to make meaningful contributions to her chosen profession while continuously seeking opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Outside of academics, Ayobami works as a direct support professional, finding fulfillment in volunteering and assisting individuals with developmental disabilities. Passionate about worship, prayer, and studying God's word, Ayobami's dedication to serving extends to her role as the head of the media department at her church, where she actively contributes to community engagement.

In her free time, Ayobami enjoys the simple pleasures of staying at home, watching TV, delving into books, and learning about financial investments. Her commitment to education and service has been recognized through her selection as a representative for the Student Advisory Council (STAC), where she eagerly anticipates contributing to the enhancement of educational quality across diverse platforms.
