The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) is a leadership development organization with more than 1.5 million members and more than 700 chapters across the United States and Latin America. NSLS began 20 years ago to help the greatest number of people in the most significant way through a dedicated mission to build strong, successful leaders.
The society encourages community action, volunteerism, personal growth, and strong leadership from its chapters and members around the world.
UMGC and NSLS have partnered to help students obtain leadership skills so they can stay ahead of the curve in an ever-changing workforce. Members participate in “Foundations of Leadership,” a four-step leadership development program that works with their schedules and prepares them to be effective leaders in their lives and careers. Upon completion, members receive a certificate and induction kit. Members are also given access to numerous benefits.
There are two ways to join NSLS: by invitation or by completing the nomination form. If you have not been invited and would like to join, please complete the NSLS nomination form and indicate Shelley Hintz as your recommending faculty member. There is a membership fee required upon joining.
NSLS offers advanced and executive leadership programs that student members can enroll into for an additional cost. You may be able to earn credit toward a UMGC undergraduate degree program upon completion of all three programs (foundations, advanced leadership, and executive leadership), potentially saving time and money.
If you are interested in this opportunity, you should first speak to your UMGC advisor to check how this NSLS program might fit into your current degree plan. Upon completion of the program, you must submit an official transcript from the American Council on Education (ACE) or the National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS) reflecting successful completion of the courses.
